When asked about her experience on the training course, Branca’s answer is clear: she is happy. Happy with the content, happy with the conversations, and happy with the shift in perspective she has witnessed — including among the male participants, who have begun to reflect more deeply on women’s experiences in sport and to approach those conversations with greater respect.
Branca is one of the newest faces at VK Piran, and her journey into rowing has only just begun. For now, she is getting familiar with the sport through the rowing machine — the erg — taking her first strokes in a discipline that is already proving to be much more than just a physical activity.
If Branca had to sum up what ROWACT means to her in just a few words, she would choose three: friendship, socialisation, and activation. These are not abstract values for her — they reflect a real and personal change. She has an athletic background, but her training used to happen at home, alone. Now, for the first time in a long time, she is part of a group. And that, she says, makes all the difference.
Going forward, Branca plans to bring more mindfulness and attention to her training — a natural evolution for someone rediscovering sport not just as exercise, but as connection.
Welcome to the crew, Branca. The water is waiting.
